Timelines

It may seem like an overwhelming venture to set up a solar or wind farm. Penn Wind / PA Solar work together with you to make the process as simple as possible.

As a landowner your sole responsibility would be to lease your land to Penn Wind / PA Solar and we do the work. Penn Wind and PA Solar work with you to design the most efficient and environmentally friendly wind or solar farm possible. Take a moment to view some working wind and solar farms.

EXAMPLE of PA project development and permitting process would be as follows:

Initial Due Diligence by Penn Wind / PA Solar:

  • Review Irradiation maps
  • Conduct site visit
  • Review potential transmission constraints
  • Gauge local opposition
  • Complete PNDI

Secure Land

Complete Electrical Interconnection Studies

  • Feasibility: 3-4 months to be completed
  • Impact: 3-6 months to be completed
  • Facilities: 3 months to be completed

Project Permitting (Allow 1 year to complete permitting process):

  • Local Municipal Planning Commission
  • Local Municipal Supervisors
  • County Planning Commission
  • County Conservation District
  • State Game Commission
  • State Department of Conservation and Natural Resources
  • State Fish and Boat Commission
  • State Department of Environmental Protection
  • State Bureau of Aviation
  • State Department of Transportation
  • US Fish and Wild Life
  • US Army Corp of Engineers
  • Federal Aviation Administration

Negotiate Power Purchase Agreement with Utility

Complete Contract for Construction of Project

Project Construction (Allow 1 month per 250kV installed for all work to be completed)

Project Commissioning
